景頗悲歌

今天我想分享緬甸和中國邊境的景頗族又稱克欽族（Kachin）的近況。

我與緬甸教會的Lahpai牧師相識多年。他是景頗族（Kachin），且是景頗族酋長的後代。我曾在他家看到他們家族的傳家寶刀。由於神的恩典，美國宣教士傳福音給他祖父，他們全家信主。他父親，叔叔都是傳道人。他也忠心地在這裡服事緬甸來灣區的信徒。記得他剛來到這裡服事時，教會無法負擔一個全職的傳道人。他得一面在一個養老院打工，一面服事主。後來教會慢慢上軌道，他才全時間服事，帶領教會成了一個宣教的教會。在Nargis熱風旋災難時，更成了幫助克倫族救災的管道。

昨天Lahpai轉來一封「為景頗族禱告（Prayer Request for Kachin People）」的信，如下：

主要內容提到，要求讀者為在緬甸的景頗族難民禱告。自從2012年6月緬甸軍隊破壞停火協定以來，景頗人民不斷地受攻擊。目前有超過十萬的難民流落到中緬邊界，由於緬甸軍的阻撓，缺少基本物資如食物，水，醫療，和教育等等。從克欽浸信總會來的最新消息，有66間教會和超過200個村莊被毀壞。緬甸難民專責小組和浸信會世界聯盟的十二位代表，將於二月八日與美國國務院難民和東南亞移民司的官員會面，催促美國政府介入並停止對景頗人民無辜的屠殺。大多數的景頗族是浸信會信徒，與早期美國對緬甸的傳教有關。

請為我們景頗牧師領袖們和其他代表禱告。

Greetings!    I am requesting your prayers for the Burma people particularly the Kachin people who are continuously attacked by the Burmese army since the broke out of the ceasefire in June of 2012.   Today, there are over 100,000 internal displaced persons (IDPs) pushed to the Burma/China border but have no access to basic life necessities such as food, water, health care, education, etc. due to blockage by the army.   The latest news from Kachin Baptist Convention in Burma saying that 66 churches and over 200 villages were destroyed.

The Burma Refugees Task Force together with Baptist World Alliance, a twelve people delegation will be meeting with the Department of State, Population, Refugees and Migration East/South East Asia Desk on Friday, February 8^th to urge US government’s intervention and halt the innocent killings of the Kachin people.   Majority of the Kachin population are Baptists tie with our historical mission in Burma!

Please pray for our Kachin pastoral leaders and other delegates who will be in the delegation.

Although we do not have significant number of Kachin churches or members in the U.S., for those who have ties and connections with oversea members and families, have expressed much grief and the churches have done quite a bit of fund raising events and prayer services to help and lift up their brothers and sisters   

I appreciate your prayers as I pray for God’s wisdom to me also coordinating this effort and putting materials together.    The Task Force had made three visits to the State Department in 2010 and 2011 for the Karen and Chin situations.   This time is for our Kachin folks.
